Additional information for placing students into education in NZ.

  • The student must be 17 years or younger attending from Year 1 to Year 13.
  • The student obtains a student visa
  • The Parent can obtain a visitors visa and be granted a visitors permit for the purpose of living with and caring for, a foreign fee paying student.
  • They must meet health and character requirements for temporary entry.
  • The parent/guardian will be issued multiple entry visitor’s visa allowing a stay in NZ for a stay of 12 months or less if the student is staying for less than 12 months. If the student is staying for more than 12 months the parent can apply for an extension.
  • The parent must show they have $1000 NZ per month and return air tickets.
  • The parent can apply for a variation to the visa if the parent wants to study part time or wishes to work between the hours of 9.00am and 2.30pm.
  • Students from 15 to 18 years attending secondary schools do not have to have a parent or guardian accompanying them and the schools will provide safe homestay facilities. This costs approximately $220 per week for a single room and three meals a day.
