airplane. Overnight at hotel in Pokhara. |

|
Pokhara -
Jomsom. Early morning flight to Jomsom. On a clear day the entire
Himalayan range can be seen. Acclimatization in Jomsom (2680 m).
In the afternoon a visit to Thimi, east of Jomsom airport is
recommended. A 3 hours walk. |

3 |
|
|
One day
acclimatization. Visit the beautiful Marpha village, famous for
its orchards and Thakali culture or climb the hills west of Jomsom. |

4 |
|
|
Trek north
following the Kaligandaki river. North of here, the vegetation is
sparse and the landscape is wind eroded, an easy walk to Kagbeni
which the entry point to the Upper Mustang region. We camp at
Kagbeni (2710 m). A 3 hours walk. |

5 |
|
|
Pass through
the village and reach the Police post where trekking permits are
checked and registered. Trek to Tangbe village for lunch. After
lunch the trail leads us to Chhuksang village (2930 m). The trail
now leaves the Kali Gandaki and climbs steeply towards Chele for
camp. A 5 hours walk. |

|
Today we take a long steep climb passing
Gyagar village across the canyons and reach the pass at (3540 m).
From here the trail descends to Samar and then to Bhena for lunch.
Further we climb again to a high pass before descending again to a
small settlement Shyang Mochen. A 6 hours walk. |

7 |
|
|
From Gellung
the trail passes through cultivated fields to the Nyila Pass. It
is a long climb to the pass at (3950 m). From here it is an easy
descent to Ghenni for lunch. After lunch we cross a bridge to a
long Mani wall (stone carved Buddhist prayer signs). Followed by
an easy descent to Charang (3200 m) village for camp. A 5 hours
walk. |

8 |

|
Descend to
the river where local water mills can be seen and ascend to a
cairn and follow an uphill trail to reach Chorten. View of the
whole valley and Lo Manthang, the famous walled city. We lunch and
camp here. A 4 hours walk. |

9 |
|
|
Today we will visit the Royal Palace,
Gompas and observe the life style of the Lobas (People of Lo
Manthang). We can hire a horse and visit the surrounding areas. |

10 |
|
|
Take the high
trail to Lo Gekar also called Ghar Gompa for lunch. We climb to
Dramkar (3600 m), which has fine meadows for camping. The wind and
snow eroded hills are just magnificent. A 30 minutes walk. |

11 |
|
|
Easy trail
downhill to Ghee Gung and climb 2 steep hills to Tama Gung, where
we have lunch. After lunch we trek to Samar (3300 m). Overnight. A
7 hours walk. |

| Day
12 |
|
|
Easy
walk to Chuksang (2860 m) for lunch and camp. Visit the Gore Gompa
with surrounding villages. Or visit the salt mine. A 4 hours walk. |

| Day
13 |
|
|
Trek
to Kagbeni (2710) for lunch. After lunch we trek to Jharkot for
camp. A 5 hours walk. |
|
| Day
14 |
|
|
Early
morning visit to Muktinath. It is about 45 minutes walk from
Jharkot (3612). We will visit the most revered temple of the
Hindus which has 108 water spouts and natural gas. In the
afternoon we look around in Jharkot village. A 3 hours walk. |

| Day
15 |
|
|
|
Return to
Jomsom (2713) for lunch and camp. Preparation for the evening
get-together party. A 4 hours walk. |

Early morning flight to Pokhara for a
connecting return flight to Kathmandu. |
